Law and Justice Policy

Law and Justice Policy is located within Policy Division in the Department of the Premier and Cabinet. We play a central role in addressing Queensland's key law and justice issues including:

• Corrective services and prisons
• Fair trading
• Police
• The Courts
• Law reform
• Freedom of information
• Security and terrorism prevention
• Crime and sentencing
• Drug courts

We also manage another unit relating to the criminal justice system:

• the Criminal Justice Research unit which provides specialised research to assist the Queensland Government in developing coordinated, evidence-based policies on criminal justice issues.
