Bronwen Griffiths
Cabinet Secretary

Bronwen completed and Honours Degree in Economics at the University Queensland in 1989 and subsequently joined the Commonwealth Treasury as a Graduate in 1990. Bronwen also worked in various roles in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, including in the Office for Status of Women.

She returned to work in the Queensland Government in 1995 taking up a position in the Office of Cabinet. She has subsequently worked in various central and line agencies, including Local Government and Planning, Premier and Cabinet and Education. From July 1998 to October 2002 she was the Senior Policy Adviser to the then Minister for Education, Anna Bligh.

Bronwen returned from maternity leave in October 2006 to take up the position of Cabinet Secretary and has responsibility for the Cabinet Services and Implementation Branch.

The position of Cabinet Secretary provides strategic advice to the Premier and the Director General on the Cabinet forward timetable and Cabinet protocols. The Cabinet Secretary communicates the outcome of Cabinet and Cabinet Committee deliberations to agencies via formal decisions.

In this role, Bronwen also leads the Cabinet Services and Implementation Branch, which is responsible for supporting Cabinet, Cabinet Committees and Community Cabinets. The Implementation Unit works with agencies to drive the delivery of key government policies and priorities.
