The Queensland Government develops and maintains international relationships in order to facilitate positive economic, social, cultural and environmental outcomes for Queensland.
These relationships can be expressed in a variety of ways, including:
Many of Queensland's relationships with international governments and organisations are formalised by signing an agreement.
Joint Statements are a more informal way of affirming international relationships.
The Queensland Government also works with local government, research and educational institutions, and other organisations to complement and maximise opportunities from Sister-City Agreements, institution to institution and other international collaborative agreements. Information on Sister-City Agreements can be sought from individual councils.
