The Queensland Government corporate logo is made up of a distinctive namestyle for each department or agency, used in conjunction with the symbol pictured here.
It allows all Government services to be readily identifiable, is suitable for use in all print and digital environments, and was launched following Cabinet approval in April 2000.
The symbol itself was commissioned from a leading Australian design agency, and the colours have been drawn from other Queenslandemblems, such as the State Coat of Arms, in order to maintain links with existing formal symbols of Queensland.
The colour of the red mantle to the left of the symbol is drawn from the shield within the State Coat of Arms, and also represents the red soil common to so many areas of our State.
The colour of the blue shield is drawn from the Maltese cross that is featured in both the Coat of Arms and the State Flag, and is representative of our Queensland sea and sky. Its oval shape is based on a traditional indigenous shield from the northern rainforests.
The gold rays have been developed from the Coat of Arms' battle colours, and form the shape of the State while giving an impression of the sun's rays.
