Reseach on Outward Mobility

Queensland's International Education and Training Policy Statement includes the Queensland Government's commitment to "encourage more Queensland students and staff to seek opportunities for part of their academic pursuits in other countries".

Research commissioned by QETI in conjunction with the International Education Association of Australia (IEAA) has been completed and confirms Australian employers value workers with international study experience.

Specifically, the research also confirms that employers seeking to expand operations into the South East Asia region value graduates with linguistic and cultural knowledge.

The summary research findings were presented at the IDP International Education Conference in Perth during 10-13 October 2006.

This work provides an understanding of current and future business needs and validates the importance of promoting awareness about the benefits of an international study experience for Australian students.
