World events in recent times demonstrate that terrorism is a credible and serious threat to Australia. The Queensland Government has a strong focus on community safety, as the freedom to pursue our sporting, cultural, recreational and business interests in a safe environment is important to Queenslanders.

Pandemic influenza

Since avian influenza first broke out in 2003, all Australian governments have been preparing for the possible emergence of a new strain of human influenza, which might develop into a pandemic.
