    Christine, Senior Executive Director

    I joined the Department's Environment and Resources Policy team in September 2000, after working in line agencies across the Queensland Government. I was pregnant at the time with my first child and went on maternity leave a few months later, but was thrilled to have landed a job at the hub of government.

    I joined the public service in November 1984. Back then you were required to sit an exam with the Queensland Public Service Board. At the time I had the choice to work for three different departments: Police, Transport or Premiers.

    I am originally from a small city near Xian in western China (the home of the famous terracotta warriors), but I am now an Australian citizen, a Queenslander. I arrived in Australia in 2001 to take up my graduate diploma in accounting at Macquarie University, and applied for residency under the skilled migrant category.

    I always wanted to be involved in work that made a difference in the lives of those around me and assisted in making Queensland a better place to live and that made a difference in people's lives. Working in DPC has given me these opportunities.

    I have been able to gain a comprehensive understanding of how government operates on a daily basis. It has been highly rewarding to be involved in areas that work closely with the Cabinet and Executive Council processes and I have gained a greater insight into the inner workings of government that many people would never get the chance to experience.
