Congratulatory letters

If you or someone you know is celebrating a special birthday, anniversary or other special event, you can request a letter from the Premier of Queensland to mark the occasion.

You can also request a letter from your local Mayor (external site), the Prime Minister of Australia, Governor-General or Her Majesty The Queen.

Birthday and anniversary messages

Letters are commonly requested for birthdays and anniversaries. Below are examples of these occasions, with information about who the letters come from and how much notice you need to give in your application.

Birthdays

90 years
Allow three weeks notice. Letters are sent from:

100, 105, 110 years
Allow four weeks notice. Letters are sent from:

Anniversaries

50 (Golden)
Allow three weeks notice. Letters are sent from:

60, 65, 70 (Diamond)
Allow four weeks notice. Letters are sent from:

To request a congratulatory letter:

1. Organise a copy of a verification document showing the applicant's date of birth or marriage. We accept any one of these documents:
