Queensland Premier's Literary Awards

Australia's most exceptional literary talents, both well known and aspiring, were recognised at the 2009 Queensland Premier's Literary Awards winners announcement on Tuesday 8 September.

Authors who wrote about rabbit plagues, our colonial days, Stella Miles Franklin and the exploitation of women by rugby league stars were among the winners.

Richard Flanagan took out the top prize of $25,000 for his fiction novel Wanting and unpublished Indigenous writer, Nicole Watson won $15,000 and a potential publishing contract for her manuscript The Boundary.
