Remote Data Entry Project
Forensic Services Branch
Queensland Police Service
Queensland Police Forensic Service staff photographically record and/or collect physical evidence that can then be used to identify an offender by comparing it against offender biometric databases. Prior to the commencement of the Remote Data Entry Project, all evidence was hand delivered or posted to a central laboratory resulting in significant delays in offender identification.
The project aimed to facilitate safe and caring communities by building capacity, improving productivity and increasing efficiency in forensic processing by taking full advantage of digital capabilities. It culminated in the development of Forensic Register case management software that manages remote input, workflow and storage.
As a result of this initiative, identifying an offender through forensic evidence is dramatically quicker. This means active offenders can be prevented from committing other offences, producing a further reduction in the number of victims and the cost to the community. There is now a consistent level of forensic support provided across Queensland.

State-wide Bituminous Products Supply Project
Program Delivery Branch and Program Procurement Branch
Department of Transport and Main Roads
In 2007, Queensland faced massive increases in infrastructure investment with a planned road infrastructure investment of $16.2 billion.
Road industry bodies were concerned with meeting demand on construction materials as existing supply for raw product proved insufficient. In response to this, the Department of Transport and Main Roads initiated the State-wide Bituminous Products Supply Project to address the forecasted state-wide demand.
This innovative project was a first in Australia and helped to deliver more than $200 million of capital expenditure by industry into Queensland's economy. Driving greater collaboration between the government and private sectors, this project enhanced the government's position in the road construction industry. Queenslanders benefited through committed investment in road infrastructure, greater investment in regional areas and the creation of jobs.
Industry bodies and major suppliers have benefited through closer working relationships with government agencies, improved plant reliability, increased production capacity and increased returns on investment.

Bowen Hills and Northshore Hamilton Development Schemes
Planning Team, Urban Land Development Authority
Department of Infrastructure and Planning
The Urban Land Development Authority (ULDA) was established in November 2007 as part of the Queensland Housing Affordability Strategy. The ULDA's role is to plan, coordinate and carry out the development of land and to fast-track the development assessment process in nominated Urban Development Areas (UDAs).
The first two UDAs in Queensland were declared at Bowen Hills and Northshore Hamilton in March 2008 and since that time the ULDA has been developing the vision for these two key sites that will see them transformed from underutilised urban infill sites into world class precincts.
The Bowen Hills and Northshore Hamilton Development Schemes are the first planning documents of their kind in Queensland. These schemes designate future residential, commercial and retail development within the UDAs and identify the infrastructure, affordable housing and sustainability requirements for each UDA to ensure they become special places where a diverse range of people can work, live and play.

Contemporary Music Export Partnership
Dance and Music Team, Arts Queensland, and Music Export Team, Trade Queensland
Department of the Premier and Cabinet and Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation
In December 2008, Arts Queensland and Trade Queensland jointly launched two contemporary music strategies, providing a comprehensive framework to support Queensland's music industry development and exporting potential.
This unique partnership builds on Brisbane's contemporary music reputation, which was acclaimed in the 2007 ranking by America's Billboard magazine as one of the world's top five contemporary music hot spots.
Arts Queensland's Contemporary Music Strategy provides a suite of initiatives to foster participation, professional development, live music opportunities, business development and national and international market development.
Trade Queensland's Contemporary Music Export Strategy provides targeted services to the music industry, with a goal to achieve $10 million in export outcomes over three financial years from 2008 to 2011.
This joint approach generated export income of $3.8 million in the 2008-09 financial year, representing a more than tenfold return on investment achieved during a challenging economic period. It has also created substantial employment for Queensland artists and music businesses, and delivered powerful career and professional development outcomes.

The Best Job in the World Campaign
Tourism Queensland
Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation
Tourism Queensland's groundbreaking The Best Job in the World campaign has changed the face of tourism marketing. Widely considered as the most successful tourism campaign in the world, it has already spawned a host of copycat campaigns and netted several international awards.
The campaign rapidly turned around low industry and consumer awareness of the islands of the Great Barrier Reef using an array of innovative communication channels to capture the public's imagination and draw them into the campaign narrative.
The Best Job in the World has commanded worldwide attention, to date achieving more than $370 million in estimated global media coverage and penetration into most countries.
It has well and truly exceeded all key performance indicators to cement Queensland and the islands of the Great Barrier Reef as one of the most aspirational holiday destinations in the world.
