Integrity and accountability

On 6 August 2009, the Queensland Government released the discussion paper, Integrity and Accountability in Queensland (PDF, 600 KB) to prompt public discussion on how Queensland's integrity and accountability system could be improved and strengthened.

A Round Table of experts was appointed to assist the Government in considering possible reforms. The Queensland Government received over 200 submissions during the consultation process.

The Queensland Government has released Response to Integrity and Accountability in Queensland which sets out the Government's agenda for integrity and accountability reforms.

Summary

Four key principles will form the basis for Queensland's Integrity and Accountability Framework as set out in the response, these are:

Queensland's current integrity and accountability framework provides a robust foundation with which to work. To further strengthen this framework the Queensland Government response includes legislative and administrative improvements that will ensure Queensland remains at the forefront of open and accountable government.
