    Arthur Beetson Public Tribute

    Artie Beetson was honoured and celebrated at a public tribute at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday 18 December.

    Premier's Seniors Christmas Concerts

    The Premier of Queensland celebrates the spirit of Christmas with regional Queenslanders through the Premier's Christmas Concerts.

    Australia Day

    26 January - our national day of celebration. Marked by festivities across the country and the naming of the Australian of the Year.

    Royal visit to Queensland

    The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh visited Brisbane in October 2011.

    Royal Queensland Show (Brisbane Ekka)

    The Ekka, one of Queensland's biggest annual events, is held at the RNA Showgrounds in August.

    Brisbane Festival

    Held in September each year, the Brisbane Festival is renowned as one of Australia's leading international arts festivals, showcasing local and international artists.

    Community Cabinet

    Community Cabinet meetings are a way for people to talk directly with ministers about a variety of issues. Meetings are held on various dates throughout the year.

    Building Revival Forum

    On 12 April 2011 key stakeholders came together to discuss the ongoing challenges still faced by the building industry after the global financial crisis.

    Queensland Week

    Queensland Week 2011 was held from 4-13 June and celebrated Queensland’s separation from New South Wales and its establishment as an independent colony.

    Queensland Disaster Heroes

    Local heroes who showed community initiative, bravery, courage, resilience and strength during the Queensland floods and Cyclone Yasi were recognised during Queensland Week as part of the Queensland Disaster Heroes program.

    The Ideas Festival is Queensland's leading ideas event, promoting public debate, thinking and innovation.

    Q150 celebrations

    Queensland celebrated 150 years of independence from New South Wales in 2009. Events and activities were held throughout Queensland to celebrate this milestone.
