2009 Royal Queensland Show – Brisbane Ekka
The Royal Queensland Show (Brisbane Ekka) is one of Queensland's biggest annual events. In 2009 it was held at the RNA Showgrounds from 6-15 August.
Queenslanders from across the State helped celebrate our 150th anniversary by visiting the Queensland Government Pavilion at this year's Brisbane Ekka.
This year's theme for the Pavilion centred around Q150 (external site). The Department of Premier and Cabinet display featured:
- a timeline of Queensland's history
- Queensland's top 150 icons
- historical snapshots of Queensland's infrastructure
- Queensland's historical medical achievements.
The Q150 kombi video booth was definitely a favourite attraction this year. In the booth, visitors could record their Q150 memories on the kombi video camera and receive a take home DVD of their message.
RNA upgrade
Now that the 2009 Ekka is over, the RNA Showgrounds will undergo a major upgrade, transforming it into an even bigger and better cultural and lifestyle hub.
Visit the Ekka website for more information (non-government site).
