People’s Question Time: What does sustainability mean for Queensland?

Sustainability: it’s a word used in the context of everything from the environment to the economy, housing, business and society in general.

But stop a moment to consider: what does sustainability really mean? Do we need to have a shared meaning of sustainability to achieve it? And are we headed towards achieving sustainability in Queensland?

Sustainability in Queensland was the topic for discussion at People's Question Time on 20 May. Audience members at the session and watching online asked questions about issues including population growth, public transport, mining and coal seam gas, renewable energy and protection of endangered species.

Panellists for the sustainability People’s Question Time were:

    • Premier of Queensland and Minister for Reconstruction Anna Bligh
    • Minister for Environment and Resource Management, Kate Jones
    • Adam Beck, Green Building Council of Australia’s Manager of Sustainable Communities

Journalist Lisa Backhouse moderated the session.
