    About People's Question Time

People's Question Time is a series of live Q&A (question and answer) panel discussions featuring the Premier, Ministers and issue experts. You can participate by submitting questions online and watching live webcasts, or by joining the audience in Brisbane.

    Who chooses the questions?

An independent moderator facilitates each session and is responsible for selecting questions to put to the panel. The Premier and other panellists have no say in which questions are chosen and don't see any questions before the session.

During People's Question Time, the moderator puts as many of the community's pre-submitted questions to the panel as possible, and also incorporates questions submitted by online viewers during the session. Audience members at the session also have an opportunity to ask the panel questions.

    What issues are discussed?

People's Question Time sessions have addressed a range of important public issues including the reconstruction of Queensland following the 2011 floods and natural disasters, education reforms, sustainability, population growth, asset sales, daylight savings, the cost of living and health.

Watch videos, listen to podcasts and read transcripts from the 2011 sessions or 2010 sessions.

Why is People's Question Time held?

Many community consultation initiatives involve people needing to travel to be able to participate. People's Question Time, however, enables people to take part in a discussion about important issues from wherever internet access is available, whether that's at home, work or in a public space – without the need to travel.

Each session provides answers to the community's questions and openly discusses issues that are important to the people of Queensland.

It also gives the Premier, Ministers and other panellists the opportunity to listen and respond directly to people and gain an understanding of issues concerning Queenslanders.
