    Great Stair Race: it was tough, but they’d do it again

    With a total of 152 people taking part, organisers of the inaugural QSuper Great Stair Race have declared this year’s event a success.

    Entrants ran or walked up all 31 floors of 111 George Street, Brisbane, as part of the Healthy Lifestyle Expo held on 14 September and coordinated by the Queensland Police and Emergency Services Games committee.

    The winner of the Elite Stair Climb - Public Sector division was Paul Dodd of the Channel Management Team, Department of Communities.

    ‘That was hell, but I’ll be back next year,’ Paul said after completing the race in an impressive 3 minutes 9 seconds, the fastest time of the day.

    Elite men

    1. Paul Dodd 3 min 09 sec and overall men’s winner.
    2. Josh Marsden 3 min 34 sec
    3. David Sweeney 3 min 35 sec

    Elite women:

    1. Aline Van Koolwijk 6 min 03 sec
    2. Steph Robinson 6 min 23 sec
