Primary School Curriculum and Educational Standards Review
The Queensland Government recently established the Primary School Curriculum and Educational Standards Review to analyse curriculum and educational standards across Queensland primary schools.
In December 2008, the government appointed the Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Council for Educational Research, Professor Geoff Masters, to conduct the review.
Summary
The Primary School Curriculum and Educational Standards Review examines the level of academic performance of Queensland primary school students in the areas of:
- literacy
- numeracy
- science.
As part of the review process, in January 2009 Professor Geoff Masters delivered the preliminary report, Improving Literacy, Numeracy and Science Learning in Queensland Primary Schools, to the Queensland Government.
The preliminary report provides an overview of several long-term recommendations and strategies for improving the overall academic achievement of primary school students across Queensland.
