5.4 Former Premiers

It is a matter for the Premier of the day to set the policy entitlements to former Premiers. Currently, the Department of the Premier and Cabinet provides the following entitlements to former Premiers.

Premiers who have served in office for five (5) years or longer:

  1. Substantial office accommodation;
  2. Private Secretary;
  3. Telephone allowance of $1,000;
  4. Correspondence allowance of $1,000;
  5. Car and driver from the Ministerial car pool on an 'as needs' basis subject to the car pool being provided with reasonable notice; and
  6. Home security and other security arrangements if required as determined by the Commissioner of Police.

These entitlements apply initially for 12 months and are subject to review at the end of this period. Generally after the first 12 months, the substantial office accommodation, private secretary and home security are no longer provided
