Multicultural Action Plan 2008-09

The Queensland Government's policy, Multicultural Queensland – making a world of difference, promotes multiculturalism and recognises that diversity is a great strength in terms of our workforce, communities, business and trade. This policy requires all government departments to be responsive to Queensland's multiculturalism.

The Department of the Premier and Cabinet and the Office of the Queensland Parliamentary Counsel developed a Multicultural Action Plan for 2008-09 that identifies actions to address these core strategies.

Summary

Specific actions outlined in the Multicultural Action Plan include engaging the participation of ethnic communities in events organised by the department, providing support for cross-cultural awareness courses and reviewing policies and work practices to ensure support for cultural diversity. Outcomes and achievements relating to the plan's activities will be provided in the department's annual report. They will also form part of the government-wide report produced by Multicultural Affairs Queensland.
