An independent review of Queensland Government boards, committees and statutory authorities took place between July 2008 and March 2009. The review was part of the Queensland Government’s major public sector reform program announced in March 2008.
Summary
The objectives of the Review of Government Boards, Committees and Statutory Authorities were:
- to reduce bureaucracy and unnecessary red tape
- to improve the overall efficiency of government bodies
- to maintain the integrity and security of necessary regulatory functions.

Part A Report
The Part A Report evaluated the existing framework of government boards and committees, and recommended a new governance decision-making model to improve their overall function, relevance and effectiveness.
Part B Report
The Part B Report finalised the governance decision-making model, and recommended a process for establishing new government bodies. It also addressed the maintenance, alteration and abolishment of existing bodies.
Government response to Part B Report
The Queensland Government reviewed the proposals contained in the Part B Report, and accepted 177 recommendations of the 210 recommendations presented in the Part B Report.
