My best day at work

Penny Cosh

Position: Social Worker, West Brisbane Family and Early Childhood Service (FECS) Team, Department of Communities, Goodna Service Centre.

Work: I negotiate the needs of individuals with a disability and their families by liaising with community agencies and maintaining regular contact with families to provide them with ongoing support.

Qualifications: Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) and Bachelor of Social Work (Hons).

Hometown: Brisbane.

Best day: Receiving feedback from families who had completed a Triple P Positive Parenting Program I facilitated last year. The parents commented how they felt more confident in their parenting role as a result of the program and that they were glad they'd made the choice to come along. It felt good to know that families were really getting something out of the workshops and that it was making a positive difference for them. Seeing the parents together in a group, making new friends and laughing together over the funny things their children did, made all the preparation and time invested definitely worthwhile!
