Barry goes back to Vietnam

In April 2009 Public Works Building Services Coordinator Barry Seeley took a couple of weeks off from protecting the Executive Building and staff at 100 George Street to revisit Vietnam.

It was an emotional trip for Barry. He had two tours of duty to Vietnam as a regular soldier - in 1967 and 1970.

Barry was a soldier in the Australian Army from 1962 until 1984, the same year the State Government Protective Security Service was formed. Barry was in the Security Service's second intake.

Barry and his tour group returned to many of the attractions, sites and battlegrounds they had first visited during their tours of duty in Vietnam. But Barry had some personal highlights on his trip.

He attended the official Anzac Day service at Long Tan. Barry joined the Australian Ambassador Mr Allaster Cox, Australian Consul-General Graeme E Swift, Australian Defence Attaché Colonel Stuart Dodds, and 100 veterans and visitors at the service.
