Scholarships on offer for leadership program
Queensland Government employees are invited to apply for a full scholarship to the state's only social leadership development program, Queensland Leadership.
The Premier of Queensland's Scholarship will enable three State Government employees to complete the innovative program, one per year for the next three years.
Queensland Leadership was developed by Australia's first charity, The Benevolent Society which has a 196-year history of pioneering social change in Australia.
The program draws on current practice from Harvard University's John F Kennedy School of Government.
The Director of Queensland Leadership, Mr Ian Boardman (pictured), Queensland's former and first Public Advocate, said the program is different from other traditional leadership courses.
'Queensland Leadership is the only program that brings together key players from all three sectors, corporate, government and community, to tackle the tough social issues impacting on Queensland in a collaborative way,' Mr Boardman said.
'We are seeking 30 of Queensland's best and brightest leaders of today and tomorrow who can go on to make a real difference in their circles of influence over the next 10 to 20 years.
'It is our aim that Queensland Leadership will produce a network of committed individuals working together to bring about profound change across our state.'
Written applications for the 2009 program starting in September are due by 5pm on Wednesday 15 July 2009.
