Our plan for regulatory simplification
The Department of the Premier and Cabinet (DPC) is participating in a three year review as part of a broader Queensland Government initiative to review Queensland regulations. The objective of this review is to reduce the compliance burden on business and the administrative burden on government by $150 million per year by the end of 2012-13.
The Queensland Regulatory Simplification Plan 2009-13 aims to give time and money back to business, community and government to invest in pursuits that promote productivity, facilitate innovation and increase competitiveness.
The purpose of reviewing our department's processes is to:
- identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary and excessive legislative requirements
- streamline administrative and procurement processes
Key initiatives in the DPC Simplification Plan:
- Establishing a new online database allowing users to apply for grants and receive email updates on the progress of their application.
- Implementing recommendations of the Independent Review of Government Boards, Committees and Statutory Authorities to streamline the 'significant appointment' process to government boards.
- Streamlining procedures for the submission of matters to the Governor in Council to reduce the time spent preparing and reviewing Executive Council Minutes and associated briefing material.
