    Queensland-NSW cross-border collaboration

The Queensland and New South Wales Governments signed the Statement of Principles and Priorities for Cross-border Collaboration 2016-19 to reaffirm the Queensland and NSW Governments' commitment to close collaboration between the two jurisdictions.

This agreement supports both governments to collaborate on identifying and resolving cross-border issues that impede regional economic development and providing efficient and consistent service delivery to communities. This agreement builds on the collaboration between the two jurisdiction including the inaugural Memorandum of Understanding signed by the respective Premiers in 2011.

The Statement identifies the following as key focus areas for cross-border collaboration:

    • Regional economic development
    • Aligning services and sharing information
    • Local transport
    • Issues of national significance

The Statement takes into consideration the unique working and living arrangements of people living close to the border and continues a long history of cross-border collaboration between New South Wales and Queensland.

The Queensland Government is currently working with the New South Wales Government to renew the Statement of Principles and Priorities for Cross-border Collaboration.
